September 19th 2011, Budapest … The design culture of Europe moves into the Erzsébet square building of Design Terminal for one month. Budapest Design Week's international opening exhibition titled COULEUR LOCALE – The Colours of Europe in Objects presents design objects from close to thirty countries. Introducing contemporary design trends through ninety design pieces, objects the exhibition is trying to answer the question whether it makes sense to talk about national character in a globalised world.
The guest of honour of Budapest Design Week (September 30th – October 9th 2011) is Poland this year. During the design festival some of the most outstanding designers and success stories of contemporary Polish design achieving more and more successes all around Europe are introduced in the Hungarian capital.
10th August 2011, Budapest … Budapest Design Week first organised Open Studios in 2009 that has since become a key element of the festival, the Budapest designfest is practically inconceivable without it. Year by year, visitors of the studios and the designers get to know each other through personal experience that often prove to have lifelong effect, and the studio visits tend to last well into the night. In 2011 another 14 design studios and workshops open their gates wide for visitors.
Budapest Design Week festival supported by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and the Hungarian Design Council is being organised in cooperation with Design Terminal for the eight time between the 30th of September and the 9th of October 2011.
